Early childhood - David Attenborough grew up in London in a University College called Leicester because his dad was the principal there. He collected fossils, stones, and natural specimens when he was young. He was asked by the zoology department if he wanted to collect Newts for them and he would be paid for it. He did collect Newts for the university, but he did not tell them that he was getting them from a pond less than five meters away from the zoology department. He got paid 3 pence for each newt. He went to Wyggeston Grammar School for Boys where he won a scholarship to Clare College, Cambridge in 1945.
Family - David Attenborough is the middle child of three, his brothers are Richard Attenborough and John Attenborough. His parents adopted two Jewish refugees during WW11. Their names are Helga Bejach and Irene Bejach. His parent’s names are Frederick Attenborough and Mary Attenborough. David Attenborough had a wife called Jane Elizabeth Ebsworth Oriel and they had two kids called Robert Attenborough and Susan Attenborough.
Documentaries - David Attenborough’s documentaries have made people more aware that animal numbers have gone down fast and that we need to work out ways it to STOP this!!! He wants people to watch them because he needs people to see that the plants and animals are not going to last long if we keep polluting Earth.
Global issues - David Attenborough does not have a driving license or a car. He says that it is more pollution in the air. If he wants to go somewhere, he uses public transport because lots of people are using one car to go places. David Attenborough believes that if we keep going the way we are, polluting the earth, there will be a mass extinction of many of the world’s animals and plants.

Interesting facts - David Attenborough does not have a car. He was knighted by the Queen in 1985. In 1947 he spent two years serving in the Royal Navy. The only animal he does not like is Rats. He is the only person to have won BAFTAs (British film award) for programs in black and white, colour, HD, and 3D. He was born on 8 May 1926. He has about 19 different plants and animals named after him. He has been to every country in the world and filmed there. Sir David Attenborough is 94 years old.
Conclusion - Sir David Attenborough does not count himself as an animal lover but instead says he has always been fascinated by them. “Ever since we arrived on this planet as a species, we've cut them down, dug them up, burnt them and poisoned them. Today we're doing so on a greater scale than ever.” “I just wish the world was twice as big and half of it was still unexplored.” said David Attenborough.
